“Nourishment isn’t a checklist—it’s a love language.” – LSW

Let’s talk about nourishment—not just what you put on your plate, but what you pour into your soul. Who you have around you. And how you set your goals.
In this world of constant motion and “wellness trends,” we can forget that nourishment isn’t something new—it’s ancient. It’s something within. It’s been practiced by women, elders, ancestors, and healers in every culture. All around the world, secrets passed on to someone’s daughter, a baby girl.
Nourishment is not just self-care. Nourishment is not just diet.
It’s legacy. It’s ritual. It’s remembrance.
It’s the connection to our own desires.
On my personal journey, I have found myself weaving different cultures into a beautiful lifestyle of my creation. Mixing knowledge, wisdom, and experiences from all over the world.
I started practices and stuck with a few, because not all are going to align with the lifestyle you choose for you.
Learning different cultures each and every day way like planting seeds in my garden. The variety beautiful and never grey.
I loved to love me in so many different ways. I got, and get, to experiment and experience so many different things. I truly didn’t have to stay in a box. I truly didn’t have to do it like someone else.
I decided it was time I found out how to love me unconditionally. To honor all the parts of me.
I wanted to nourish and take heed to all parts and aspects of me. Diet, Fitness, Mentally, Spiritually, and I wanted to do it within Community. I wanted to expand my vocabulary and my reach into the universe. To find my people and expand my being. To nourish me to capacity. To learn how to expand when I run over.
So today, I want to walk with you on your path to reclaiming it. Reclaiming the power you hold within.
Not from a product. Not from a planner. But from the parts of ourselves that already knows what it means to care deeply and live slowly.
“In every culture, nourishment has always been a story passed from hand to hand, heart to heart.” – LSW
Nourishment in Ethical Cultural Practices

Across the globe, true nourishment has always been rooted in rhythm, community, and nature. Let’s honor some of the ways diverse cultures have embraced sacred self and communal care:
1. Ayurveda (India): Eating with the Elements
Ayurveda teaches us to eat not just for hunger, but for harmony. Every meal is matched to the seasons, the body’s unique dosha (constitution), and the intention to bring balance.
Nourishment here looks like: warm spices, slow meals, and digestive rituals that honor the fire within.
2. Kemetic Healing (Ancient Egypt & modern African diaspora): Breath, Stillness, and Ma’at
Kemetic traditions prioritize order, balance, and harmony (Ma’at) in all things—including food, movement, and thought. Fasting and plant-based eating are part of cleansing not just the body, but the spirit.
Nourishment here looks like: breathwork, intentional cleansing, and sacred alignment with truth and integrity.
3. Japanese Tea Ceremony (Japan): Ritual as Mindfulness
The tea ceremony is a spiritual act of presence and grace. Every gesture is slow, deliberate, and full of reverence. In this space, nourishment is about quiet joy, minimalism, and peace.
Nourishment here looks like: slowness, silence, beauty in simplicity.
4. Indigenous Practices (Americas & beyond): Communal Eating & Earth Connection
Many Indigenous cultures honor nourishment as a shared responsibility—to each other and the land. Food is medicine, ceremony, and story. Gratitude is given before every harvest, every bite.
Nourishment here looks like: connection to land, ancestral recipes, and reverence for the source.
So What Does Nourishment Mean for You?
It may be:
• Turning your phone off during breakfast
• Breathing deeply before each sip of tea
• Making a pot of soup that smells like your grandmother’s kitchen
• Writing a love note to your body after a long week
• Eating something soft and warm because your nervous system asked for softness too
True nourishment is slow. Intentional. Sacred. And sovereign.
It doesn’t need to look a certain way. It just needs to feel like care. Like nourishment. Like you are refilling YOUR OWN CUP.
Try This Ritual: The Nourishment Check-In
Take a deep breath. Close your eyes. Ask yourself:
What am I craving? And not just for taste.
What would nourish me right now—physically, emotionally, and spiritually?
Write it down. Then offer yourself one piece of that care today. Just one.
Because WHY NOT?! You deserve it.
